07 May (Tue): Laurel Bloomery in the TN mountains for six nights after days of “running before the storm” to use a phrase from my offshore yacht racing life. Rising early and on the road at sunrise helps avoid the later collision of warm and cold air masses spawning tornados. Over near 28 years we have abandoned Time Bandit nine times and were hell bent to avoid a tenth. From Port Isabel, TX, our winter home base, we covered 1,486 mi with me at the controls 52% of the time. Team driving rules in our house. |
