05 Nov (Wed): Long Island Village, Port Isabel, TX, our home base for 28 winters where our arrival was greeted by a pod of dolphins cavorting beside our Intracoastal Waterway dock. Back in the day famed Tennessee frontiersman, Davy Crockett, served several terms in the US House of Representatives. In 1835 a lost reelection bid so incensed him that he muttered, “You can all go to hell. I’m going to Texas.” He did and met his destiny at the Alamo in 1836. Like him, we are now gone to Texas. |
